“And the rockets rent glare, the bombs bursting in air…” Those words evoke emotion from any freedom loving American! That’s especially true when there are fireworks exploding overhead amidst the rugged Rocky Mountains as a backdrop with friends, family, and a community that loves our nation. Such was the scene at the Stadium of Fire on July 2nd, 2016 at the LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, UT.
This year’s Stadium of Fire, the Largest Stadium fireworks show in America, proved to be another smashing success. Tim McGraw was the featured entertainment this year. Having sold over 40 million records, a mega country music icon, he’s shaped modern country music as we know it today. With 36 No 1 singles, the highest grossing tour in the country music history, and an impressive acting career, McGraw brought a new level of excitement typical for the Stadium of Fire.
Grammy award winner Patti Austin returned to the Stadium of Fire as the host. Additional entertainment included Rockwell Airtime Skydive Team, the Debra Bronner Unity Gospel Choir, David Osmond, and the Stadium of Fire Dancers.
This year also proved special for the Responsibility Foundation. The Statue of Responsibility had it’s moment of glory. A 17” marble cast replica of the statue was presented to outgoing Commissioner Larry Ellertson, during a brief award ceremony onstage during the pre-show. Over 45,000 people at the Stadium were introduced to the Statue of Responsibility and the corresponding movement. An emotional Ellertson accepted the award with a grateful heart and a special feeling was felt for the remainder of the event!
Thanks for to America’s Freedom Festival, a nonprofit, non-partisan organization, for supporting causes such as the Responsibility movement which promote freedom and democracy.
