We invite you to…BE PART OF HISTORY…

On November 1st, millions of students across America will make their mark on history as they participate in the largest student mock presidential election and related fundraiser ever conducted.  Every U.S. citizen, especially school children, should understand the responsibilities that come with our rights and freedoms in America, such as voting.

Together, with Studies Weekly, the ‘Every Kid Votes’ campaign, and corresponding Statue of Responsibility Fundraiser, children of today are empowered to become a part of history. They are going to practice voting for the next President of the United States and raise funds to help build the Statue of Responsibility.  They will also raise money for their classrooms and college scholarships for their students.

This election season kids will learn about responsibility through a series of lessons and service activities and help build the Statue of Responsibility, a 300-foot monument to be constructed on the West Coast. This is an epic “once in a century” opportunity for today’s students to raise funds to build an iconic monument, similar to the Statue of Liberty.

The Statue of Responsibility Fundraiser

During the 2016-17 school year, millions of students have a once in a century opportunity to be part of something special while learning about civic responsibility and raising funds, the Statue of Responsibility, their school, and for college scholarships.

Students raise money by completing lessons on civic responsibility, doing service activities, and securing sponsorship donations.  The Statue of Responsibility construction fund receives 45% and 5% goes to the scholarships. Students participate in the 10 x 10 challenge by securing 10 donations from 10 sponsors raising $100 or more. We call this the 10 x 10 Challenge. Students who achieve this goal and raise $100 will have their name permanently recorded in bold letters at the Statue of Responsibility.  Schools receive 45% of the funds raised when they participate in the Statue of Responsibility Fundraiser.

For every $25 a student raises, their name is entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of the many $5,000 scholarships.  Watch this video to learn more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDmGPGox038

The Drive for Responsibility

We need your help. Join us in being part of history through the Drive for Responsibility campaign. How? Donate to our cause on responsibilityfoundation.org and share our mission on social media. What is the Drive For Responsibility? Imagine a convoy (Tesla, truck, and trailer) wrapped in Statue of Responsibility imagery and traveling through the concrete jungle of L.A. or the hayfields of Montana. We are turning heads wherever we go!

The Drive for Responsibility is making a historic nationwide drive to educate America’s youth about the importance of voting and responsibility. As The Drive visits schools and state capitols across the nation, and conducts school assemblies along the way, it ignites conversations about civic responsibility regarding our rights and liberties, while encouraging kids to vote in the mock Presidential election and increase awareness of the Statue of Responsibility monument.  Who’s involved?

Pee Wee Harrison and Hollywood Brown have joined the Drive for Responsibility. You may recognize their names from traveling around the world with the famous Harlem Globetrotter Meadowlark Lemon and his basketball team called the Harlem All Stars. They made millions laugh all over the world and entertained troops and dignitaries from different countries.

Every U.S. citizen, especially school children, should understand the responsibilities that come with their freedoms as an American citizen, such as the right to vote. The Drive For Responsibility challenge began on August 24, 2016 and ends at the Statue of Liberty on November 1st.  Watch this video!  https://youtu.be/pdsqPxUQC0A

It’s now September 1, 2016?  Where is the Drive For Responsibility now?  See links to our social media sites below. Last week we started in San Diego, then L.A., and waved as we drove by the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco.  We hit several schools, drank lots of Diet Coke, and listened to PeeWee’s reggae!  And the kids? They love learning about how they can be a part of history and spin a basketball on one finger all in a 30 min assembly. Today we are doing an assembly at Forest Hills Elementary in Portland, Oregon.  After that, we visit with a member of the Governor’s office in Salem, OR.  Finally, we will jet off to Olympia for another presentation at the capitol, meeting the governor (or staff) and then more kid presentations…the momentum is growing!  Check out this news story from one of our first school assemblies.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pmnivj0roxA&feature=youtu.be

What is it like to actually be on the road with the Drive For Responsibility?  Pee Wee gets up early every day and does 200 push ups!  Is he crazy?  He is challenging kids to set health goals and achieve them.  He makes the effort look easy on video but by the last few push ups, he might break a sweat! Hollywood Brown uses his smooth voice to excite kids to make a difference in the world. Kids crave the opportunity to make their mark on history.  He is reminding thousands of students this is their moment!  Road trips are fun! This one is EPIC!

Ultimately Pee Wee, Hollywood, and the Drive team are helping kids sign up for the 10 x 10 Challenge. They are meeting famous people along the way, experiencing the best (and worst) places to eat, and documenting the adventures of living in a hotel from one city to the next.  Our full website release is coming soon!  Here you will be able to find the latest schedule and tips regarding the Drive For Responsibility.
