Fired Up, 1955–2018
Responsibility Foundation Executive Vice President and Board Secretary/Treasurer Douglas E. Weber lived a life of passion, encouragement and responsibility. He died unexpectedly on Nov. 8, but left an example of kindness and dedication that won’t be forgotten.
Douglas lived to do good and to help others do good. He had a passion for church, music, scouting, and was very proud of his family.
Douglas was a founding member of the Responsibility Foundation, and started serving in 2012 as a volunteer, providing nonprofit expertise and guidance in organizational governance and operational strategy. He worked diligently to unraveled a complex series of governance issues through forensic research and ultimately filed documentation to make the new foundation official.
Before joining the Responsibility Foundation, Douglas was president and chief executive officer for local United Way organizations in five major markets. He was founder and president of Douglas Weber & Associates, Inc., and worked with top Fortune 500 chief executive officers and senior executives in volunteer management and outcome-based strategic planning.
During his professional career, he raised more than $227 million in charitable contributions for annual, capital and endowment funds. He also served in various executive positions with the Boy Scouts of America.
Doug had a zest for life that was unlike any other. We hope to follow his example and extend his passion for doing good as we continue his work. As he would often say, we are “Fired Up!”
